The 2022 KAP sani2c was a huge success, once again. The three-day, 265-kilometre mountain bike stage race that takes place in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has become an icon on the South African mountain-biking calendar. So popular is the race that it is made up of two separate events (to accommodate the number of riders) that start on consecutive days and run concurrently – being racers and adventure riders.

KAP Industrial Holdings Limited came on board as a title sponsor back in 2016 when sani2c adjusted its sponsorship strategy to focus more attention on its well-established social upliftment model. Thanks to an alignment of values and brand association, the event (under founder and chief organiser, Glen Haw) entered into a B-BBEE partnership with JSE-listed, KAP Industrial Holdings that year. The partnership has grown from strength to strength since.

KAP Industrial Holdings Limited is a diversified industrial group consisting of industrial, chemical and logistics businesses. Maxe falls under KAP Automotive Unitrans Africa falls under this umbrella and is proud to be associated with the event in that way. KAP supports the sani2c community and the partnership has resulted in the opening of the sani2c Community Trust. This trust makes a difference in many South Africans’ lives daily.

As has been well documented in the media, one of the race’s two main purposes is described as being ‘to create employment and other commercial opportunities and develop skills by collaborating with local organisations and previously unemployed residents on the route.’ Our values and goals at Maxe are very much aligned with these goals. 

As part of our support of the event, we once again ran THE MAXE BEST DRESSED RACE COMPETITION, which was a huge hit.  We were overwhelmed by the response to the competition and would like to thank ALL the participants for their efforts.
